Most Filipino plumbers build a “Tree”. One big pipe enters the house. It splits (Tee) to the kitchen. Splits again to the CR. Splits again to the shower. The problem: When someone flushes the toilet, your shower gets scalding hot because the pressure dropped.
I saw this in Germany and it changed my life. You have a central hub (Manifold). One dedicated pipe goes to the Kitchen. One dedicated pipe goes to the Shower. One dedicated pipe goes to the Toilet. The result: You can flush the toilet 10 times and the person in the shower won’t scream.
Cost. mostly. You need way more pipe. But pipe is cheap. Labor is the same. The real reason? Plumbers are lazy. It’s easier to cut a pipe and stick a Tee in it than to run a new line back to the source.
If you go Manifold, you should probably use PEX (flexible plastic pipe). Why? Because you can bend it. No elbows = No leaks under the tiles. If you use PVC (Blue pipe), you need 50 elbows to run a manifold system. That’s 50 places it can leak.
If you are building a small house? The traditional “Tree” is fine. If you have 3 bathrooms and a washing machine? Get a manifold. Or enjoy your cold showers.
