When Typhoon Odette hits (250 kph winds)… your windows are dead. I don’t care if they are “tempered”. A flying coconut at 200 kph goes through anything. You need physical protection.
It looks like wood. It acts like plastic (doesn’t rot). And it’s dense. If you build it as a “hinged shutter”, it looks like a decoration 99% of the year. When the storm comes… you close it. Instant armor.
1. The Overhang Angle it at 45 degrees. It deflects rain. It shades the window.
2. The Impact Test WPC can take a hit. It might scratch or chip, but it won’t shatter like glass. Basically, it sacrifices itself to save your expensive window.
3. Installation Do NOT scream screw it into the hollow block (CHB). The wind will rip the screw out. You need to bolt it to the concrete beams/columns. Use Stainless Steel bolts (316 grade).
Don’t wait until PAGASA raises Signal #3. Build the protection into the house design. WPC shutters look good. And they actually work.
